Duct Insulation
Duct insulation refers to insulation used on your ducts to limit heat loss, ensure energy is not wasted or to maintain the correct operating temperature. Poorly insulated ducts can lead to high energy bills and therefore it's recommended that they are effectively insulated.
Duct systems carry air around properties, from air conditioning units to each room within the property via the walls floor and/or ceiling. Ducts can be produced from sheet metal, fiberglass, or other materials.
Duct insulation offers noise cancellation properties and is ideal for ventilation systems, air conditioning, refrigeration equipment, ridged ducting, walls, ceilings and lofts. It's quick and easy to install and offers many benefits.
Ducts that leak heated air into unheated spaces can hike your heating bills. Insulating ducts in unconditioned spaces is cost-effective as it reduces any losses caused by leaks. New duct systems should be properly fitted with effective duct insulation to prevent leaks and avoid such losses in the first instance.
It's particularly important to insulate ducts in spaces such as attics where the area is unconditioned. Whilst heated or cooled air can escape through unsealed joints, unconditioned air can be sucked into the ducts causing problems with air supply and quality. Duct insulation should be undertaken by professionals to ensure the correct sealing materials are utilised and to prevent further work in the future.
