Price Changes

Please see the correspondence received from Rockwool regarding Rocklap Sections. (I would also point out that supply of 35mm, 45mm & 55mm thick Rocklap Sections has also been temporarily suspended and these thicknesses are not likely to become available again, until the new distribution centre opens next year.)

Our recent availability and service levels for our RockLap® H&V Pipe sections have not been at the levels we desire and for this, we apologise.

We recognise the growing demand and the strategic importance of our non-combustible stone wool pipe sections and are committed to developing this area of our business.

We have been working hard to develop a strategy to improve our availability and lead times on these items. In April 2025 we will be opening a new state of the art, HVAC distribution centre in the Midlands. This facility will allow us to carry significantly higher levels of stock across our HVAC range, reduce lead times and allow us to service you more effectively, with flexible mixed load solutions.

The transition between our current facility and the new facility will take place during Q1 2025.

During the transition period between December and April, we may experience some delays or extended lead times on certain sizes.

To avoid abnormal ordering patterns during this transition period and to allow all customers access to our available HVAC capacity the decision has been made to introduce a fair distribution model for HVAC pipe sections effective from 18/11/24 based on the previous purchase history for each customer.

For clarity, the specific product ranges included in fair distribution are as follows:

• RockLap ® H&V Pipe Sections
• Fire Tube (Conlit 150U – see below)

Members of our customer service and sales teams, will contact HVAC customers during November. Each customer will be given an expected volume, available for them to order against each month going forwards from 1st December. We will work with each customer to decide what products they would like to take by utilising their available volume.

We expect the fair distribution model to be a temporary measure for the rest of this year and into Q1 whilst we transition to the new facility to help all customers obtain their fair share of available pipe section capacity.

Additionally, as a result of the above changes we would like to inform you of the following changes to our pipe section assortment.

Our new RockLap® H&V Pipe Section Range is as available on request.

RockLap® H&V Pipe sections – please note with effect from 18/11/24, thermal insulation for pipes greater in diameter than 356mm should be insulated using Pipe Section Mat (PSM). We will no longer offer HVAC sections for these larger pipe sizes.

Fire Tube will be renamed under our Conlit® tradename – further details will follow in a separate communication.

The following ranges will be withdrawn with effect from 01/12/24.

Fire Duct Section – this is in line with previous communications regarding the expiry of our certification on this product

Tech Tube – this product will be withdrawn with effect from 01/12/24. Our TechWrap product will remain available and can be utilised in applications where Techtube may have been previously utilised.

As always, by working together on forward orders, forecasting and future demand we can plan more effectively and provide the best possible service and availability.

We will keep you informed as we progress with our plans and will provide further updates on the new facility and our fair distribution policy in due course.

This will inevitably lead to extending the lead-times again, so please bear this in mind for future projects.

Sadly, we have been informed that TAP Acoustics have entered into administration, this is all the information we have at this stage and will keep you informed as and when more information is made available to us. (We do have stocks of Muftilag products at the moment, but these will not last indefinitely, so at this stage would suggest that you do not specify Muftilag to be used, as we may not be able to supply it.)

Icerock Ductwrap is currently on an extended lead time due to recent events in Iceland, so at the moment, the lead time for this range of products is around 10 – 12 weeks from order. We currently have stock of Icerock Ductwrap but the stock is limited, and depending on demand we may run low on stocks due to the extended lead times.

Rockwool have announced that they will be having a short Easter shutdown on 1st & 2nd April, and then a summer shutdown from the 9th September through to the 15th September on the lines that produce the HVAC, RTI and Fire Protection Products (Includes all Pipe Sections, Ductwrap & Ductslab). This will inevitably lead to extended lead times, so please bear this in mind for future products.

Isover have announced that they have temporarily suspended the sales of all Climcover Glass Fibre Ductwrap products.

We have been told that as things stand, they do not know how long this suspension will be in force, so we will update you as soon as we are informed.

Isover have reassured us that the Ductwrap we have in stock can be sold, and therefore is still for purpose and can be installed as normal.

(At the present time, we have fairly good stocks of 25mm, 40mm & 50mm Isover Climcover Ductwrap, so there should not be any impact to you in the short term, but this may change if the issue is a long-term problem for Isover.)

Kingspan have announced that they intend to change the sizes of the boxes that they supply the Kingspan Kooltherm Pipe Section in. The boxes will be slightly larger, so will generally increase the box quantities of the section. The planned date for this change is 15th May 2023, and there will be a period of time of bringing in the new boxes and phasing out the old boxes, and again we will do what we can to keep any confusion to a minimum.

Over the coming months, Armacell will be moving from their traditional AF/Class O product to their new AF/Armaflex Evo. The product itself will look similar in appearance to the traditional product but it has been improved and they're branding it their "safest AF/Armaflex ever". The new product does offer the prospect of a 10 year warranty*

There will also be a change in the box quantities for some sizes, which may cause some confusion whilst they are phasing in one product & phasing out the other, but we will do what we can to keep this confusion to a minimum.

With the move from BS to EN standards, Rockwool have announced that they will not be renewing their historical BS standard based assessments relating to Rockwool Fire Duct Systems when they expire on 30th March 2023. Rockwool have stated that they are aware that the Fire Duct Systems are used widely in the market, and that in the majority of applications the supporting testing is held by third-party system holders. As a result, they are NOT withdrawing the product from the market, purely withdrawing the Rockwool owned BS test support coverage.

Rockwool have said that as the Fire Duct System products will still be available, but will not have any Rockwool BS support that before using the product all users should confirm with the duct manufacturer/system holder that they have the appropriate coverage within the scope of THEIR testing / assessments for the intended use and performance required, before installing.

There is already a replacement product for the Fire Duct System, which is Rockwool Ductrock (Black Foil Faced), which has been in the market since 2018, and is comprehensively tested to the relevant EN test standards

Sager have decided to close their production line that manufactures their pipe sections, which means that they are withdrawing from the pipe insulation business. They are currently still running the line, and intend to continue with the production until the end of February 2023. This means that after this time the PIPELANE range of products will no longer be commercially available.

3M – IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING VENTURECLAD:

We have been advised by 3M that as of 15^th March 2019 they will cease to sell 3M VentureClad and 3M Venture Tape in Europe, Middle East & Africa, and they will also discontinue manufacturing these products in Europe.

They have offered an option to be able to continue purchasing these products, and that is to purchase the products direct from the United States. At the moment we do not think that this will be a viable option, as they have said that the buyer would be responsible for the cost of the freight, local duties and taxes. So, when you combine the added costs and the fact that there will be an extended lead time, (as the material has got to come from the United States) it does not look as if this range of products will be a viable option after 15^th March 2019, and stocks have been exhausted.

3M have said that they will accept purchase orders for the above products up until 15^th March or until their current stocks are exhausted (THEY WILL NOT BE RE-STOCKING AFTER THEIR CURRENT STOCK HAS BEEN SOLD.)

We have a reasonable stock of both of these ranges of products and will continue to supply these whilst stocks last, and in the meantime, we will be exploring the feasibility of importing the products from the United States and also potential alternative products.

If you have any specific requirements for these products then please contact us ASAP so that we can try to secure the stock for you.

We can imagine that this could potentially cause problems with existing contracts so we have passed the information on to you as soon as we have been informed.

We will of course keep you updated on any future progress with the situation
